I recently spoke with a medium size lender that is looking to replace its Loan Origination System in 2028 (!). What’s New
Elphi AI is live in production now. The real differentiator in mortgage origination is an AI model running inside the LOS, with full context of every deal and task, doing something a bolt-on tool never can. Signal from the Market
The biggest split we're seeing right now isn't loan volume - it's whether a lender has anyone in-house who can touch an API.
Platforms today are open: APIs, webhooks, MCPs - all direct ways to plug into the system. That cuts both ways - reading data out, and acting on it automatically. Capital markets can price off it in real time. Servicing can trigger from it without a manual handoff. Sales can act the moment something changes, and the list goes on.
A two-person tech team is turning into a bigger edge than headcount.
What’s Coming
Today, Elphi AI already does more than read documents - it classifies documents, and moves the workflow forward, with next steps, recommendations, and thinking grounded in what's actually in the file. Near-term, it goes further: enhancing the people using it, acting less like a tool and more like a super user on the team.
